Recite.com has a new logo

The guys over at Recite.com have come up with a new logo. I kind of dig it. What do you all think? They have also simplified the color scheme.

Create Visual Quotes and share with your friends

Also, I heard through the grapevine that they are going to be freshening up the template selection with some new designs, landscapes and backgrounds for upcoming holidays.

From what I have seen on the internet, this is still my favorite site for creating visual quotes.

Memes are funny… but these are inspirational and beautiful

Visual Quote Tools on the Web

Visual Quote Tools on the Web

We’ve all seen the popular “quotes turned into images” on today’s social media sites. People use status updates to let all of their friends know how they are feeling, what they are up to, who’s going to be going to what parties and events… the list goes on and on.

Everyone on social media wants everyone else to know how they are feeling.

And now with visual quotes, we can convey this message within an image.

One of my favorite sites for creating beautiful and stunning visual quotes is Recite.com.

Recite provides it’s users with a simple input area for you to type in your personal quote or other message. You then can scroll through dozens of pretty cool looking layouts into which your quote will be rendered. The Recite magic happens and presto….an image is created for you to download or share on any of the many social media sites (Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, StumbleUpon and Twitter) ….and of course, you can email it to a friend.

Recite.com has recently undergone some major “under the hood” work to improve it’s image rendering process. The front-end design has also been improved on in that it is now responsive and adjusts when viewed on any mobile devices.

I highly recommend visiting this sister site of ours.

DX Toronto: This is Not a Toy

Posted by on Feb 12, 2014 | No Comments

“This Is Not a Toy” is the only exhibit to date to highlight the conceptual toy as both a cultural signifier and a piece of art. Currently on exhibit in Toronto at The Design Exchange (DX), “This Is Not a Toy” is guest curated by Pharrell Williams along with John Wee Tom and the Associate Curator from DX Sara Nickelson.

The museum has been transformed to create a fantastical atmosphere filled with in your face colours and patterns in keeping with the exhibits playful nature. On display are works from artists such as Takashi Murakami, Huck Gee, KAWS, and FriendsWithYou, and range from miniature figurines to larger than life free-standing sculptures. “This Is Not a Toy” allows exhibit goers to indulge in a childlike yet sophisticated realm that provides a crossover between childish toys to contemporary art.

Van Cleef & Arpels are setting luck in motion with their new campaign “8 Seconds of Luck”. Ever an elusive quality, and one that has always been near and dear to Van Cleef & Arpels, they’re looking to catch the proverbial lightning in a bottle with this new campaign by allowing users to send 8 second messages of luck to loved ones.

Put together from a selection of one-second micro-films, these user-generated videos embrace the theme of luck, while referencing materials from various iconic Van Cleef & Arpels collections. Users can also customize videos by adding personalized messages to loved ones. Check out Piccsy’s 8 second video, featuring four leaf clovers, birthday candles, lucky pennies, and other such luck-related imagery, complete with a special message of our very own.

11 Lovely Cafés From Toronto You Should Know About

As every corner of every metroplitan city fills up with “that green mermaid coffee shop”, there are places that strive (and achieve) to be original and cozy.

Owned by a select few of big-minded people, these cafés are able to build truly lovely spaces. Some are made to work in, some are made to play, but all of them have the awesome factor down pat.
